Christopher Ward unveils four 150-piece limited editions of the C63 Sealander, each showcasing a natural stone dial.

are and beautiful stones have been used in Swiss watchmaking since the late 1950s. Industry icons such as Piaget and Rolex experimented with materials beyond enamel and metal, successfully providing luxury alternatives to traditional materials and showcasing technical capabilities.

Today, Christopher Ward reveals its first entry into the space in the form of the C63 Sealander Stones Limited Editions - four new watches that pair the signature 36mm Light-catcher™ case with dials cut from malachite, yellow tiger’s eye, charoite and turquoise.

Each stone brings a distinctive look to the collection. Malachite, with its rich green bands, has been admired since ancient times for its striking, almost iridescent patterns. Charoite, found only in Siberia, is instantly recognisable for its flowing violet swirls and natural depth. Turquoise has been treasured across cultures for centuries, valued for its vivid blue-green tones that vary from dial to dial. Finally, the yellow tiger’s eye, with its golden stripes and shimmering effect, gives a bold, dynamic finish. Because every stone is naturally formed, no two dials will ever be exactly the same.

Working with such materials is no small feat: “With a hardness of only 3.5 - 4 on the Mohs scale, malachite in particular presented a unique technical challenge,” explains Product Manager Alice Filiot. “But when you see the finished result on the wrist, it’s clear the effort was worth it”, she continues.

To showcase the stones, the dials are set with 13 diamond-polished indexes and a polished, applied twin-flag logo. The hands carry Grade X1 BL C1 Super-LumiNova® for nighttime legibility, while avoiding lume on the indices reflects the dress-inclined nature of the collection.

Inside beats the Sellita SW200-1, one of Swiss watchmaking’s most reliable automatic movements, with a 38-hour power reserve and custom rotor. A sapphire exhibition caseback allows the wearer to admire it in motion.

On the launch of the Sealander Stones, COO Sarah Baumann comments, “The four stones add vibrancy and uniqueness, which really appealed to us. The decision to include these in the Sealander case was made easier thanks to the popularity of the C63 Celest, which really set a precedent for using these dressier and more complicated dials.”
